Relationship Tale

If you want to talk about relationships, boy do I have tales to tell you. Where I come from, I'm known as everyone's favorite "Ladies Man." I make friends with girls, hang out at their homes, eat lunch with a few, even go to class with them.
But there is one girl that I really enjoy hanging with the most. Her name is: Amber, a cuban or puerto rican girl I met back during my Sophmore year. She's smart, yet occassionally quiet. She is charming girl, but really shy. She's never had a lot of friends and she's never fit in with a group. In a way, she reminds me of myself.
After awhile, we got to know each other and we became the best of friends. Going over her house, I learned that she is a REAL fan of disney, always dreaming of moving to Orlando to work there. She's also an artist in her own opinion, drawing her own characters, making her own stories, and she has her own way of giving them that personality. I just know she's going to make it big when she makes impact in Orlando.
As the months pass, I start to have certain feelings for that girl. There's something about her that makes me feel that I can float in the air. In my dreams, I envision those warm, starry nights of Amber & me. I know we try to be more than friends, but I soon feel that we may be more than friends. Amber is not like the other girls, I love this girl more than she realizes. No matter where she goes or what she sees, she will never leave my memory and will always stay in my heart.

Ghost Through a Brick Wall Observation

Watching the YouTube video, I carefully observed the footage to determine the possible answer. While it did look human, the statistics show that it's possibly the frosty air flowing against the wall. It's impossible to see if it was a ghost. I'm no expert when it comes to ghosts, but if you were to ask someone from Ghost Hunters, experts on paranormal activity, they'll give you an analysis. Some people have one opinion, all different from the other. In my opinion, I say: HOAX.

A Call to Action Response

After watching the video of Obama's speech, I can tell he's trying to ahrd to bring change to our country. The first thing he's trying to do is to give everyone a chance for a college education. I can clearly see what our president has planned to do.
He believes that the American community should strive for a college education. I don't blame the guy. In order to achieve the most successful jobs on the planet, it takes a college education to earn that job. If students work hard and take a trip to college, they'll get the majors needed to get the job they always wanted. Whether it involves the study of medicine, government, or even a job as a teacher like our hardworking, Mrs. Stoklosa.
On the other hand, you don't really need a college education for a job. College is optional and it depends on how the man or woman feels about it. They may not need to go to college for the job they have in mind or they choose not to attend. After all, this is America, a free country I quote.
Obama is merely suggesting that students should really strive to earn the college education they deserve. However, like in American Idol, the judges only make the suggestions. The people chooses what to do, especially when college is involved. It's their life, it's the choices they make that affect their future.

Corporatized Response

Now this is a topic I can agree with. This is just one problem that our society has been going through for quite sometime. Today's music these days are okay, but they just don't share that one thing that makes them so great. In fact, "Corporatized" is actually the best word you can use for talent that has been over produced. Even the best talents such as Aerosmith and Metallica have fallen prey to it.

In my opinion, it seems the music industry feels that it's all about today's edge. In fact, none of the songs seem to sound like the talent that we all know and love. It's not about how you produce something, it's all about music. No unneed instruments or choruses, it has to be something the fans love.

But we can't please everyone in this generation. Some people love the new direction, others remain firm. I say no matter what you like, just remember it's all about music. If it's something you love, then it should be something others love.

International Response

Can you imagine what it must be like to actually speak to someone from another country? Well I happen to have several friends from other countries myself. In fact, I remember several years ago when I received many emails from a certain Rudberg from Canada. Of course, I never met her on any well known website like Facebook or Myspace. AAs a matter of fact, I first met her on a fabulous ship called: THE ROYAL CARRIBEAN.

It was around two years ago when my family received a cruise around the carribeans for an entire week. It was an unforgetable trip. Sailing to other countries, climbing waterfalls in Jamaica, snorkling with Sting Rays, and one time exploring several coral reefs. Plus, how lucky would you be to have dinner with the captain? Great way to spend the summer.

But I don't want to get into too much details on the trip. I met Rudberg wen I signed up for a students group on the ship. We hang out, explore the ship, got to know one another, and it was a party every night. She's a nice girl in a way, beautiful in a way. In fact, ever since the trip, we send each other several emails now and then. It's a nice way to keep in touch especially when you are far apart. If there's one thing I learned, "No matter where you are, your friends will always be with you no matter how far."

So never forget who your friends are, no matter where they come from. Friendship is a lasting bond that lasts a life time. You might find something that you each have in common, whether it's sports or math or even theatrics. Keep your bond strong and you'll never lose them. If you have other stories you wish to share, by all means type away.

The Other Side of Valentines Response

I know how one would feel to not have someone to love on Valentines Day. Sure you can give flowers and chocolates to any girl you want, but would it be for love? Even in my younger days, I always had trouble with girls. I make friends with plenty of females, just that and nothing more.
For once in my life, if I can find a girl who would not only love me, but if I can love her in return, then that's the girl for me. But right now, I'm not really thinking about a relationship. I figure that I should try to make more friends than relationships. The way I work things out is to earn a girl's trust and have her realize that I am kind, generous young man. Who knows, someday, I'll reach the next level to a relationship. But until then, I have a long way to go.

The Great Disease response

We all know a disease can't be cured. It's like a parasite that will stick with you for the rest of your life. You can give it all the medication all you want; all that will do is slow the process. That's what I would say if we were talking about a critical disease. In this case, this topic is all about: SCHOOLITIS!!!

If you disliked being late for class & getting detention everyday, then you're going to hate this. It starts early in the year, heavily affective on the younger grades at an alarming rate. This may not sound like a serious issue to all the kids gloating in their bedrooms. Just wait until you realize the symptons.

"It starts after forgetting a simple homework assignment," Stoklosa said. The symptoms progress when you sit through the day in a hypnotic daze. You have no idea what you did & you don't even know what you were SUPPOSED to learn. In fact, it's true that students everywhere are confusing their job of getting education with the task of catching up on daytime TV. I know because I see them all around me. Any student who misbehaves in class or doesn't do well, proves why teachers know them as slackers.

If students got to school on time, do their school work, & study for your test, you will not only slow down Schoolitis but you'll get that education you deserve. So if we want Mrs. Stoklosa to be proud of us, we have to show her we do have a chance to learn. If we can show we are not who she thinks we are, she'll give us that thumbs up we so rightfully deserve.

We are a new generation & this is our time to shine. So let's make this semester count for us, for teachers, & for school students in all of Florida!

Family Time Response

In response to a recent blog, family time happens to be a major issue. We're talking about kind, caring parents who work hard to make us what we are today. They feed us when we're hungry, they clean us when we get in a mess, & they'll even spend the day taking us for a walk in the park just to enjoy the beauty of life.

Some kiids just don't appreciate what they do for us. Becuase every teenager in the county seems to think they don't need help. Their always bragging about how they can go out on their own, they think they can rough it out on their own. In fact, when the time comes for college, teens go so they can get away from their parents.

Speaking from personal experience, I have no reason not to appreciate our parents. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today. My father may work for the state as an inspector, but he's always been there for me when I needed him {especially when I need writing tips}. My mom is a straight A woman who has always been kind & supportive towards me. If all parents are like that, why should we treat them like they don't exist?

Don't make the same mistake that any teenager would do. Your parents are here for a reason. They only want to make sure that you will have a successful future & they want you to do well. Some parents may not show it, but they care about you & they worry about you everyday. Let's face it, you don't know what you've got until you lose them.

If that's no way to respond to a blog, I don't know what is.

World of Warcraft addiction response

We all know that addiction is becoming a serious problem. We know it's not just young audiences affected, but the elderly are afftected as well. This addiction is indeed becoming as worse as drug or alcohol addiction; thank god it's not critical.

But if there's one thing that makes this addiction more serious, it's role playing games. Now I'm not the kind of guy who bashes video games. But let's face it, role playing games are one of the sources that involve internet addiction.

As the addicted idol stated, one of the biggest internet addiction is a game developed by Blizzard called World of Warcraft. The purpose of the game is to send players into an "alternate dimension" where people from all over the world can interact & go on quests at the same time. They can fight as elves, humans, dwarfs, shamens, or they can create a new species.

According to the charts, about 20% of the 14 million people playing are addicted. Addicted Idol was right about one thing. Internet addiction is becoming a serious issue because it's not just young adults playing Warcraft. In fact, actors such as Mr. T & Ozzy Osbourne have been rumored to be playing this game. You could go up between 12-55 & you can still be addicted to playing this game.

But as I said before, I am not a guy who bashes video games. Take me, for instance, a guy who enjoys playing Smackdown vs. Raw games where you can either create yourself as a superstar or create a superstar based on celebrities. But what I know from my cousin up in Live Oak, games like this makes us "moody & violent" & they stop caring about their social life.

Now take it from me, it's nice to play video games once in awhile. But if we play video games for the rest of our lives, what's worth lving if we're not going to spend it. I would prefer going out of the house, going camping, seeing new sights, & meeting people. Otherwise, if you love these games too much you might as well live in Warcraft {we all know there's only ONE way to do that}.

Don't take my word for it. Only you can choose your fate. But I will suggest this, choose wisely.

Performer lands role in professional theater company

Cypress Bay senior Sam Salerno puts the final touches on her makeup and hums a few notes as she looks herself over in the mirror. The overture comes to a close and Salerno takes a deep breath to calm the butterflies in her stomach and steps out into the spotlight.

The audience sits enthralled as the action on stage unfolds before them. Salerno is playing the leading role of Cosette in the Broadway musical Les Miserables at the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theater.

"I'm so excited to be a part of this production because Les Mis is my favorite show & I've always wanted to be a part of it," Salerno said.

For the last 2 months, Salerno has spent her Saturdays working with actors from all over South Florida to produce a captivating show. Hours spent learning harmonies, memorizing dance steps, & blocking countless scenes have given Salerno the opportunity to work with new people & it has given her experience beyond the high school theater realm.

"Everyone I'm working with is all new to me. They were all very nice, talented, & welcoming," Salerno said.

Salerno has been involved in the drama & musical theater programs at the Bay since the 9th grade. Salerno has played many roles such as Bombalurina from Cats, a silly girl in Beauty & the Beast, Anita in West Side Story, Rizza in Grease, and Milli in thoroughly Modern Millie. She will also be participating in Lightning Drama's spring show, Ragtime.

"I am so proud of Samantha for her theater accomplishments & her ability to excel in her school work as well," said Sam's mother, Lisa Salerno. "I am her No. 1 fan."

In addition to her many roles, Salerno manages to keep her grades up. She takes honors classes & earns straight A's. Salerno will be attending the University of Central Florida in the fall, where she is a finalist for their Musical Theater Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Salerno will find out in early March whether or not she has been accepted into the program.

"I plan to pursue musical theater in college because it is my passion & I couldn't imagine college without it," Salerno said.

Salerno also said she looks forward to performing in front of people from all over South Florida.

"I really wanted an experience outside of high school & I'm looking forward to perofrming in Hollywood Playhouse on the last 2 weekends in March," Salerno said. I believe this girl will definitely have a future when it's all said & done.

Air Force One, best sneakers?

Well I can't exactly deny that statement. Nike has been known for making the best products in the sneakers industry. In fact, this special sneaker has made history by being the first product to use the companie's technology. To prove the value of such magnificent sneakers, it represents the Air Force One plane, which carried the presidents of the U.S. {Obama must feel very lucky to learn how valuable his plane turned out to be}. I may not have an obssession with sneakers, but I do know which shoes are the best.

The purpose of the Air Force 1 sneaker was to give Basketball stars, such as Kobe Bryant & Shaquille O' Neal, the speed to run the court & the balance especially when soaked with sweat. Ironically, I was just speaking about the NBA in an earlier blog. But another interesting fact is that these shoes have been favored for hip-hop artists. Such Rappers included Nelly & The St. Lunatics, who have collaborated on a 2002 single entitled "Air Force Ones" about the shoes.

Of course, such shoes is mostly favored for street play as well as for professional play. Other NBA talent Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse have used the AF1s for all their games since. I tell you, if Cypress Bay used these shoes for their games, they would definetly have the edge & win the Basketball finals.

Two years ago, for the 25th anniversary of the original Air Force 1, Nike created the Air Force XXV, which got its inspiration from original Air Force 1. A commercial for the Air Force XXV included Lebron James, Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Tony Parker, Jermaine O' Neak, Anar'e Stoudemire, Chris Paul, and Paul Pierce, featuring the music of Juelz Santana {the Second Coming}. Since its intro, many different Air Force 1s have been designed or inspired by celebrities and atheletes. This list includes Keelan Miller, Jay-Z, LeBron James, Rasheed Wallace,Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and numerous others.

Now there's really no need to brag about the shoes because each design is unique in its own way. Nike shoes were made for street games & basketball. Had Nike not invented these shoes, Basketball wouldn't be as intense as it is today. Basketball is all about speed & these shoes were made to do so. So the next time your team has a basketball game, I highly recommend the Air Force 1. But remember, these shoes are merely tools to give you the edge. It's the player who uses these sneakers for the right occassion. Heed my advice & you won't regret.

Lakers-Celtics Rivalry

This rivalry has been memorable for the two most storied basketball franchises in NBA history. The rivalry had been less intense since the retirements of Magic Johnson & Larry Bird in the early 1990s, but in 2008, the rivalry was reborn as the Lakers & Celtics met in the finals for the first time since 1987. The Celtics currently lead in total championships with 17 to the Lakers' 14; together, the two teams' 31 championships account for half of the 1962 championships in NBA history.

For the first time in 21 years, the Lakers & Celtics faced off in the 2008 finals to determine who's the best team in the NBA. Now I know some people are really good fans of the Lakers & I respect those who stand for their team. But when it comes ot the statistics of this rivalry, the Boston Celtics have been ahead of the Lakers for as long as anyone can remember.

Since 1959, The Lakers & Celtics have met a total of 11 times in the NBA finals, with Boston winning the first eight meetings & Los Angeles winning the next two. In the most recent meeting of the two franchises, the Celtics won the Championship series 4 games to 2 over the Lakers. In fact, it was that victory that made Celtics captain Paul Pierce MVP of the series.

I may not know much about the sports world, but I do know about statistics. In the case of this rivalry, not even MVP player for the Lakers, Kobe Bryant, was enough to match the intensity of the Celtics. Both teams have fought hard to prove who's the top dogs of the NBA, this rivalry has been the most talked about event since the Miami Heat won their first NBA finals.

No rivalry can compare to the Lakers vs. Celtics. The next time they meet, they will be more determined than ever to prove themselves worthy of top NBA talent. Every counter between these teams have become more intense, more exciting, & most sensational than ever before. Who knows, twenty years from now, the guys at NBA headquarters should consider making a DVD collectors set of the most historic rivlary in Basketball. Until the next time they meet, game on!
